Your GFC forester can evaluate the site with you and help you formulate a plan to perform any site preparation that is needed to insure good stand establishment and evaluate planting quality to insure that your trees are properly planted.

Longleaf Pine has many desirable characteristics and it has regained popularity in recent years.  One reason is its natural resistance to pine bark beetles which makes it an ideal species choice to restore areas that were previously impacted by these insects.  It has an exceptionally straight form and good branch angles which make it a high value tree for solid wood products and it is extremely fire tolerant which lends itself to multiple use management regimes such as wildlife enhancement.

To apply for this practice, contact your local county GFC forester.
