Accountant PAY: $39,038.32 LOCATION: Macon Headquarters EXAMPLES OF DUTIES : Under general supervision and according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), performs advanced professional accounting duties that require independent judgment and initiative. Duties include analyzing, recording, and interpreting financial transactions, preparing specialized and standard accounting reports and providing information to auditors and other third parties. Performs periodic operational analyses of accounting procedures and systems to recommend methods for the improvement of efficiency and operational effectiveness related to assets, liabilities, profit and loss, or other financial activities. Supervises payroll function.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Completion of a bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND One year of professional accounting experience OR Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a business curriculum which included completion of introductory and intermediate accounting sequence AND One year of professional accounting experience OR Completion of a master’s degree in accounting PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with PeopleSoft Financials and Human Resources software; experience processing hourly and salaried payroll; good Excel skills.

Forester Please Note: Management Foresters will be hired as Temporary Hourly Workers @ an hourly rate of $14.50 for approximately 3 months before being considered for Full-time positions. During this 90 day period you will be expected to take and pass the Moderate Work Capacity Test which requires you to walk 2 miles in 30 minutes while carrying a 25 lb pack on your back. This fitness test is an annual requirement. LOCATION: There are currently no openings but please check back to see if any positions have become available. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Provide technical assistance to landowners in all areas of forest management. Write multiple resource based forest management plans for landowners. Assist with timber sales on state lands. Provide technical assistance to landowners in afforestation and reforestation. Diagnose insect and disease infestations and make recommendations for control. Assess storm damage to forest lands. Develop prescribed burning plans and assist with implementation. Provide assistance with establishing Streamside Management Zones. Present forestry programs to school groups and local government bodies. Assist landowners with cost share programs.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Completion of 4 year degree with an undergraduate major in forestry at an accredited four year college or university. Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, excellent communication and customer service skills.
Some postions may also perform fire control duties and be required to: Operate two to five ton trucks and medium to heavy crawler tractors in the suppression of wild fires. Prepare reports, including measuring and computing acreage. Assist landowners in control burns and plow pre-suppression breaks. Perform preventive maintenance and small repairs to fire suppression equipment. Be in an on-call rotation with unit personnel for the suppression of wildfires. Live, or relocate to, within 45 minutes of assigned work unit, have valid driver's license, and be able to obtain a CDL license within 90 days of hire. Complete Ranger training.

Please Note: Ranger 1 applicants will be hired as Temporary Hourly Workers @ an hourly rate of $11.50 for approximately 3 months before being considered for Full-time positions. During that time it is expected that initial Wildland Firefighting training will be completed and that the applicant will have obtained the appropriate Commercial Drivers License (pay increases will be given for successful completion). Provided that training has progressed satisfactorily and a funded vacancy is available, the applicant will be considered for Full-Time employment after the initial 3 months.

To qualify for the Ranger 1 job you must complete an ACT WorkKeys assesment in the following three categories: “Locating Information”; “Reading for Information”; and “Applied Mathematics”. You must score level 3 out of a possible 6 on the Locating Information assessment, level 3 out of a possible 7 on the Reading for Information assessment, and level 4 out of a possible 7 on the Applied Mathematics to be considered for interviews. Preferred Qualifications: include 1 year experience operating and maintaining heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. DISPATCHER (This is a part-time position) Location: Macon Headquarters off I-16 Pay - $9.00/hour Hours – Variable, depending on shift, Weekends and holidays required Position is part time (Typically averaging 25-30 hours per week) EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Under limited supervision and in support of fire control activities, operates and monitors a voice and data communications system consisting of: two-way radio, telephone and computer data communications network. Assist in location, dispatching of equipment and maintaining radio contact with personnel. Stay abreast of current fire information, issue weather updates, receive and process burning permits. Performs related clerical work including completion of reports and answering and forwarding incoming telephone calls. Performs minor janitorial duties within the dispatch work area. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Applicants should possess the following training and/or experience: Demonstrated competencies that display or give evidence of the ability to speak clearly to communicate with personnel over a two-way radio and a telephone communication network, including the ability to read and comprehend information, ability to receive and transmit messages correctly and provide clear directions and an accurate description of situations when dispatching resources to accidents and to locations of road hazards. Timber Sales Technician (This is a part-time, temporary position) Location: South Georgia (with a preference of Southwest Georgia) Pay - $11.00/hr Hours - Part-time (typically 25-29 hours per week) EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Cruises and marks timber to estimate timber sales volumes. Marks timber to harvest or leave. Marks timber sale boundary lines. Marks streamside management zones. Performs GPS field work related to sales. Uses various mapping and timber cruising software packages such as ArcGIS, SoloForest, and TCruise (training will be provided on these software programs). Assists with inspection of logging/harvesting operations to ensure contract compliance. QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving history, and two years of post-secondary education in a Forestry curriculum that includes principles of Dendrology, Silviculture and Timber Measurement. Preferred Qualifications include a 2 or 4 year degree in Forestry or closely related field.
